The Dawson Academy teaches the concept of Complete Dentistry. Dr. Harper shares in the philosophy that dentists should focus on solving the underlying cause for dental problems rather than simply treating the symptoms. Respecting Our Environment
There are many steps that a dentist office can take to be more environmentally friendly. One of the ways we’re setting an example is through the installation of an amalgam separator, which removes amalgam (silver fillings) and other metals from our waste water. This allows us to recycle the materials and prevent them from entering the water supply. The EPA has mandated that all dental offices have amalgam separators installed by 2014. Our office took the initiative to install an amalgam separator in 2007.
Other ways that our office works to respect our environment include:
- Utilize recycled paper and envelopes.
- Shred and recycle forms that have patient information.
- Cut non-personal papers into note-sized scrap paper.
- Before recycling, use both sides of paper.
- All magazines, cardboard and plastic materials are recycled.
- Utilize water coolers and personal re-usable drink containers.
